About the Author
Born on May 26, 1970. Born in Tokyo and grew up in Nigata. Graduated from Nigata Prefectual Nagaoka High School. His blood type is A. He won an honorable mention prize in the Weekly Shonen Jump "New Manga Hop Step Award" with the work Podomakku. Later, while he worked as an assistant, he presented works such as Sengoku No Mikazuki (Crescent Moon in the Warring States) and Rurouni-Meiji Kenkaku Romantan (Meiji Swordsman Romance Story). The serialization of Rurouni Kenshin started in 1994 and concluded in 1999. His hobbies are to draw, read, play video games, read American comic books, and make model figures.

I own all of the Rurouni Kenshin manga in single-volume format, but never got around to purchasing the first 3, so this hit the spot. Comparing this release to the other volumes by VIZ though, the paper used is thinner and even the backing feels less sturdy. I guess it still reads the same, but it just feels a bit cheap to handle. There are some interesting extras within this omnibus though, such as several unpublished pilots and alternate openings, so it's worth checking out just for that. If you're a big RK fan, I'd still recommend spending more money for the individual volumes over this. They're easier to read and will last much longer, plus you'll get more cover art. My old volumes from 2005-07 still hold up perfectly, but I don't think this omnibus will see the same longevity.
The quality is great, and I love this series, but this is not the edition that I expected. I didn't realize that there are 2 versions of Rurouni Kenshin "3 in one" edition in print. If I didn't already have some of the other edition, I'd keep this, but I want a matching collection... FYI
The manga has very good art, I will give it that but I did find myself enjoying the anime better. The action is very hard to understand in the way its drawn and theres usually more talking than action, Im more into action oriented stories. I do like the author's notes and explanations though. In most instances, it was hard for me to get interested. But the product was shipped in good quality. I recommend the anime though.
These were a gift. Just heard tonight, he really appreciated them and certainly likes the first one so far.
As a Rurouni Kenshin fan I have to say I enjoyed picking up another version of the manga. Great read still!

Introduced to manga back in high school, this genre has become a permanent fixture in my personal library. This series has a special place in my heart considering it was one of the first mangas I have latched on to over the years. I adore the animated series and live action movies of this beloved Japanese classic, but there is nothing quite like reading its original text. I was thrilled when the 3-in-1 editions started appearing on shelves. They are handy to have, give you a decent chunk of the storyline, and are a great financial option.Speaking about the marvelous storyline! Kenshin Himura is a stellar lead character. He is quirky, deep, and has a fascinating narrative that is full of adventure, pure heartache, and stunning hope. Furthermore, he is not a stand-alone character. Miss Kaoru compliments this wandering swordsman in a way that is artfully crafted. She is full of heart, sometimes obsessive, and intrinsically possesses a charismatic energy to match Kenshin's pivotal role in the manga. Yahiko, Zano, Megumi, and plenty of other characters make their own marks that frequently match or--dare I say--exceed Kenshin and Kaoru's emotional impact on the readers. The ability to craft multiple complex characters and plots like in this series is practically unmatched.As you start diving into Japan during the Meiji Era, you will start learning and becoming invested with these wonderful characters. You'll be rooting for them every step of the way. Plus, the artwork is well done which adds to the development of these beloved heroes/heroines/villains. While some of the poetic beauty is lost in translation, there are still plenty of poignant and wonderful lines as well. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!
